How the game works

A different incident every game.

  1. The Incident Captain builds the attack

    One player is the Incident Captain. The game deals one attack card for each stage: how the attacker got in, how they moved, how they stayed and how the data left. The Incident Captain sets the scene without giving the cards away.

  2. The Defenders investigate

    Each turn, the Defenders agree on one Detection and roll a d20. Established Detections, the ones the team is most experienced with, add +3. A roll of 11 or more succeeds. When a roll fails, talk through why it wouldn’t have worked.

  3. Ten turns, and Injects

    Reveal all four attack cards within ten turns and the team wins. Three failed rolls in a row, or a natural 1 or 20, and the Incident Captain draws an Inject that changes the scenario.

In the online game, the Incident Captain’s controls sit bottom right: the Solution, Injects, the Starting Condition and the Scenario Tools. The Game Progress box rolls the d20 and counts the turns. Click a card to turn it over, click it again to read it full size.
